SINGAPORE: A 15-year-old male teenager will be charged on Wednesday (Mar 27) with voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapon, after allegedly striking a victim with a metal rod in Sengkang.
An unknown assailant had allegedly struck the victim's back with a metal rod and hurled vulgarities at her as she was walking along Fernvale Lane, the police said in a news release on Wednesday.
The victim suffered minor injuries as a result, it added.
The police said it received a report regarding the case of assault at about 12pm on Mar 22 and preliminary investigations revealed that the attack was unprovoked.
Through the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the identity of the teenager and he was subsequently arrested on Monday,
"The police have zero tolerance towards such brazen acts of violence and will not hesitate to act against those who blatantly disregard the law," the police added.
