The annual Star Awards season, which celebrates talent in the local Chinese entertainment industry, kicked off with its closed-door Gala Night on Monday (Apr 15) at Zouk Singapore to spotlight a year of achievements both in front of and behind the camera with six Programme Awards and four Creative Achievement Awards.
Local drama All That Glitters clinched three of the 10 awards, including Best Drama Serial. Meanwhile, its director Wong Foong Hwee and scriptwriter Ang Eng Tee snagged Best Director (Drama) and Best Screenplay (Drama), respectively.
The show, a rags-to-riches story about three close friends, is leading the pack with 11 nominations at this year’s Star Awards.
Cast members Desmond Tan, Jeremy Chan, Chantalle Ng and Zhang Ze Tong are up for performance awards at the main Star Awards ceremony on Apr 21 at The Theatre at Mediacorp.
Best Theme Song went to Wind From The Galaxy, sung by Kim Jae-hoon, from TV series Oppa, Saranghae!
Mediacorp LOVE 972’s The Breakfast Quintet clinched Best Radio Programme for the fourth year in a row. The radio programme used to be The Breakfast Quartet but changed its name after Cai Rongzu joined Mark Lee, Chen Biyu and Marcus Chin in the line-up.

Meanwhile, Best Entertainment Programme was claimed by Foodie Trio, while Best Infotainment Programme was awarded to Inside Crime Scene S2.
#JustSwipeLah, a bite-sized series that delivers current content on the latest and trendiest in entertainment and lifestyle, won Best Short-form Entertainment Programme.
And to honour the creative forces behind the entertainment programmes, Goh Si Jiau was named Best Producer (Entertainment) for her work on Star Awards 2023 - Awards Ceremony, while Chua Ing Tze was crowned Best Research Writer (Entertainment) for Curious City S2.
